Azhar- Arabian Horse

The Arabian Horse is considered to be the oldest, purest breed and has contributed its bloodlines to almost every other breed in the world, such as the Thoroughbred. Little Tahoma - Appaloosa

The Appaloosa descends from the spotted horses developed in the 1800s by the Nez Perce Indians, who selectively bred them to be hardy and agile for hunting and war. Today, those same qualities have helped Appaloosas succeed in many disciplines, such as jumping, dressage, racing, reining and roping. The breed is most recognizable by its spotted coat patterns, mottled (spotted) skin around the eyes and muzzle and its striped hooves.

Passport to Model Horse Collecting

Collecting model horses can be just as fun as owning a live horse. The goal of collecting and model horse showing is to portray your model horse realistically. This includes using leather tack, and even metal horse shoes. Part of that fun can be using this passport set to keep a record of your model horses, just as the trainer of real show horses might. Enjoy learning about a breed, such as the Trakehner that comes with this set, by creating a pedigree, or bloodline. Include a photo and notes about his model showing performances and you are on your way to becoming a more knowledgeable collector. There’s even room to document information for up to 23 more horses!

Just as in the real horse world, in the model horse world, there are clubs that focus on specific breeds and hold shows where competitors can win awards. Live shows are exciting affairs where you can meet new friends who love horses as much as you do. You can compete with your models in halter and performance classes and win prizes! If you can't make it to a live show, there is always photo showing. Choose the classes you want your horse to perform in based on conformation and overall appearance. Collectors of all ages enjoy making their own tack and customizing the color of a model, which enhances the showing experience. This passport resembles those of horses that travel overseas. Start using the passport with this Trakehner, a breed used in many disciplines and recognized internationally for its courage and athleticism. Originally a war horse, the Trakehner—named for its birthplace in Trakehnen, Prussia (near the Lithuanian border); was bred by King Frederick Wilhem I in 1732 to carry his officers to battle. This light, but strong breed replaced the stocky, heavy horses that were used to carry armor and heavy artillery.

Today, the Trakehner, like other former war horses, has a modern job. Excelling in dressage and jumping, the Trakehner is known as the Thoroughbred of the warmblood breeds. He can be distinguished by the moose antler branded on his right hip.

With grace, power and beauty, this Breyer replica of a real Trakehner is a perfect addition to any model horse collection.
